Welcome back to the latest episode of Arctic Ninja!
So, you’ll notice a few things…
The page is bigger. MUCH bigger. That’s because this comic strip will bounce around a bit and play with size and presentation. It’s a somewhat experimental format in that way and I hope you’ll come to dig the various styles that will make-up this long journey. Plus, I want to capitalize on the really BIG moments and give this the epic feel it deserves.
No Blue. That’s part of the experimentation process. Sometimes there will be blue. Sometimes there won’t. Sometimes just black and white (always my preferred style). And at some point, color. But, not by me. No, I don’t have the time or patience for it. Color work is limited and sporadic for me and I just don’t have the desire to dive full-tilt boogie into that realm, unless it’s for a cover or something special. There are better colorists out there and I’d rather collaborate than contaminate.
In a few weeks we will see The Arctic Ninja’s lair and get a better sense of who this guy (spirit, zombie, anomaly?) is. And probably a surprise or two. The journey continues…
Keep an eye out for this week’s recommendations, which I’m going to start breaking down into individual posts to see if they fare better and also to reduce clutter from post-to-post.
